When Elon Musk bought Twitter in 2022, my suggestions to move to Mastodon were met with resistance and outright hostility. When I informed my peers where my "backup" VTuber account was, most of them worried for me. I let it roll off my back; you can say Mastodon didn't have the best first impression. You may have heard that it has the aptly-earned rep of being difficult and perilous, especially for Black people.
Sabot in the Age of AI
Here is a curated list of strategies, offensive methods, and tactics for (algorithmic) sabotage, disruption, and deliberate poisoning.
In the last week we've seen the emergence of the true Meta — and the true Mark Zuckerberg — as the company ended its fact-checking program, claiming that (and I quote) "fact checkers have been too politically biased and have destroyed more trust than they've created" on both Instagram and Facebook, the latter of which was shown in a study from George Washington University to, by design, "afford antivaccine content producers several means to circumvent the intent of misinformation removal policies." Meta has also killed its diversity, equity and inclusion programs.
This document presents a preliminary version comprising ten propositions, numbered from 0 to 9, that articulate the underlying principles, strategic approaches, and aesthetic manifestations of the critical concept of “algorithmic sabotage” within the broader context of digital culture and information technology.
I’m gravitating away from the discourse of measuring and fixing unfair algorithmic systems, or making them more transparent, or accountable. Instead, I’m finding myself fixated on articulating the moral case for sabotaging, circumventing, and destroying “AI”, machine learning systems, and their surrounding political projects as valid responses to harm.

It's possible to watch all this collapse and enjoy it because us plebs have already been living in a recession since 2022. Biden-pilled liberals and economics writers alike have been calling proletarians Chicken Littles for a few years, saying this was a "vibecession", that the economy was strong and household confidence was false consciousness. Look at the fundamentals, you idiots, look at the stats! Nevermind that our bank accounts were empty, our rents were up, prices were skyrocketing and the vultures of legalized sports betting, payday loan apps and credit card default circled relentlessly. Anecdote is not the singular of data, they told us, while we watched more and more of our mutuals turn to less and less effective mutual aid funds to get by. The jobs opening numbers are strong, they said, as friends got laid-off and those looking for jobs couldn't even get an interview.
